A Timeline of Milford Fabricating
1945, E. Pohl Sr. Sikorsky Aircraft Welder
Mr. Pohl started his career as a welder at Sikorsky Aircraft welding airframe components in the early years at Sikorsky Aircraft working with Igor Sikorsky developing his flying machine called a Helicopter Mr. Pohl actually worked on the VS-300 (R-4), which became the world's first mass produced helicopter in 1942.
1947, Creation of Milford Fabricating
This is where it all began in the family's Garage located at E Pohl Sr's home in Milford CT. Some of his first customer's were Raybestos Brake company located in Stratford, CT. Sikorsky Aircraft for welding, Fabrication for Louis Engineering Naugatuck, CT. and Bendix Company.
1950, Milford Fabricating Moves
This is a picture of the newly purchased 2,700 sq ft building on Erna Ave Milford CT where Mr. Pohl moved from his personal garage to expand his operation to this location where he employed 8 full time fabricators and welders.
1960's, Perkin Elmer Satellite Assembly
Pictured here are two employee's working on a complex assembly for Perkin Elmer that was used for an early satellite to support the space program. Both employees were lifelong employees who began and retired from Milford Fabricating. Jerry Ritz pictured on the right still works at Milford Fabricating part time.
2005, Modern Day Milford Fabricating
In this 2005 picture are the 45 employees standing outside the Erna Ave factory where the building grew from 3,000 sq ft to approx 26,000 sq ft
2009, April 28th, Production Begins
“From ashes to production in 28 days and to have a new warehouse in seven months, that’s it. People are amazed at what we’ve done. It’s nothing short of a miracle.”
